The Yum List Review of Grandmother's Table.

It took an eccentric but loveable Italian Chef to think of this, and boy, am I grateful that he did.

Nestled on the rooftop of DC Mall is Nero Nero – home to Chef Guiseppe Lioce – and his Grandmother’s Table monthly brunch concept.

Take one table, a group of mixed friends and strangers, a bubbly chef and his random kitchen creations, free flow of wine and beer, and you have Grandmothers’s Table. A concept designed to be like the old-fashioned lunches at grandma’s house, with dishes from the kitchen coming out to surprise and please her guests. Giuseppe oversee’s a very busy kitchen, and plates up no less than six entrée dishes, plus mains, plus desserts, with time in between to chit-chat with all his guests and maybe even a glass of vino or two (in our case, Limoncello).

Introducing Chef Giuseppe Lioce.

True-blue Italian Giuseppe Lioce counts his mother as much an inspiration as the Michelin-starred chefs he has worked with. Born in Noicattaro, a beautiful small town close to Bari city in Puglia, Italy - famous for its delicious grapes that are exported to the entire world -  Lioce's love for food emerged early. As a child he would often assist his father plucking grapes from their vineyard to produce Primitivo wine - a family tradition dating back 300 years. “The vineyard was like a second home to me,“ said Lioce, who has since worked across Michelin-starred and boutique restaurants as well as five-star hotels in Italy, London, Spain, Ireland, Switzerland, Australia and India.

Chef Giuseppe counts simplicity as his signature style and now brings his acclaimed craft to us at Nero Nero as Executive Chef. “All my dishes have a story to tell.” says this gracious talent.

The outstanding trait that one notices about Chef Giuseppe is his warm hospitality and his passion to personally serve his guests - “I always treat my guests as if I were serving my parents.”  He believes in creating the highest level of guest satisfaction by crafting a unique experience for visitors and building a special connect with his guests. Experience his talent that tells a culinary story, only at Nero Nero!
